THE TRI-COUNTY PROTECTIVE AGENCY OPENED ITS DOORS IN FEBRUARY 1988 SERVING, LIBERTY, LONG AND BRYAN COUNTIES, ALONG WITH FT. STEWART, GEORGIA. THE LAND THE FACILITY CURRENTLY SITS ON WAS DONATED BY MR. CARL DYKES, FORMER MAYOR OF HINESVILLE. TWO HOMES WERE ALSO DONATED BY THE JACOBSON AND KITCHENS FAMILIES. THE FIRST RENOVATION WAS COMPLETED BY THE 92ND ENGINEERS AND IN 1992 A SECOND RENOVATION TOOK PLACE AND THE TWO STRUCTURES WERE CONNECTED BY A WING THAT THE 92ND ENGINEERS ALSO COMPLETED. IN 1995 THE SHELTER WAS ABLE TO EXPAND SERVICES TO EVANS AND TATTNALL COUNTIES AND TO THIS DAY SERVE THE FOLLOWING 5 COUNTIES: LIBERTY, LONG, BRYAN, TATTNALL, AND EVANS COUNTIES. THE TRI-COUNTY PROTECTIVE AGENCY HAS CONTINUED TO SERVE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FOR THE PAST 26YRS.
